The Parable of the Prodigal Son, comes alive in a comtemporary retelling set to upbeat music featuring rock'n'roll, country and hip-hop styles. Familiar characters from the parable such as Papa and his two sons are joined by Mama and sister, Sharon, who narrates the family's story. Juda is a shallow teen, experiencing growing pains, who finally gets to do things his way when he decides to leave Papa's farm and live it up in the big city. Meanwhile David, the older brother, grows resentful of the responsibilities he now shoulders alone. Juda eventually finds himself lost in the world in which he thought he belonged. With no other choice, he returns home prepared to face rejection, but it is Papa who turns the meaning of the word "prodigal" around. Meaning "lavish to a fault," prodigal describes both Juda's recklessness and Papa's overwhelming mercy. True to the parable's nature, the audience is invited into the story to apply the meaning to their own lives and to discover the nature of God's love.
