Snows Youth Ministry
Training for Youth Ministers

 

The Youth Ministry Certificate program (YMCP) is a national training and educational program for those ministering to youth ages 11-18, in both parish and school settings. It equips leaders with the knowledge, skills, practical tools, and techniques needed for creative and comprehensive ministry with youth.

YMCP is hosted locally by the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows and presented by the Center for Ministry Development. (www.cmdnet.org)

The Center for Ministry Development and the Oblates of Mary Immaculate who operate the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows are collaborating members of the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry.

 

The Youth Ministry Certificate Program:

Who: This workshop is open to all adults who work with youth.

Where: National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows

When: Each course takes place on a Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Cost: $215.00 includes tuition, books, handouts, continental breakfast and Sunday lunch. A non-refundable deposit of $50 is due.

You must register at least 3 weeks in advance to guarantee availability of all course materials. You may register late, however, your books may have to be special ordered.

Credit: Participants may request a recognition of participation and 1 CEUs upon completion of the 2-day course. CEUs do not require assignments; they are a nationally recognized standard of participation in continuing education programs. In addition, graduate credit may be obtained through Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, MO. Additional assignments are required. Contact Aquinas Institute 314-256-8806 for more information.

Students must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at Aquinas to receive these credits.

 

 

Certificate Program

The eight courses in the YMCP focus on "Renewing the Vision," the United States Bishops' document on Catholic Youth Ministry.

The Shrine is currently offering courses in CYCLE II. Upcoming courses are "Justice and Service", "Prayer & Worship", "Evangelization & Catechesis "

A Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies is designed to help students work towards the National Competency Standards for Lay Ecclesial Ministers.

Aquinas Institute of Theology (www.ai.edu) in St. Louis, MO offers 8 graduate credits toward a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies degree to YMCP students who meet certain requirements.

Students must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at Aquinas to receive these credits. Contact Aquinas Institute at 314-256-8806 for more information.
